So i’ve set up my raspberry pi using volumio, I have a set of Bose Companion 5 speakers which get their input from either USB or a 3.5mm input. Taking the sound from the raspberry pi’s 3.5mm jack they obviously sound awful so ideally without buying a DAC I would like to output sound from the Pi over usb to the speakers as I would from my mac. When I plug the Bose into the pi under audio output a new option is listed as ‘audio’ however I get no output to the speakers.
Is there anyway I could get these speakers to work from the USB port? I have read that they are supported from some linux distributions so I have hope that they may work.
