Boot from USB Drive

I did do a quick search, but the most recent post was over a year old. I was hoping that maybe with the Pi4 that the situation may have changed. I appreciate knowing that it hasn’t, though I wish that wasn’t the case.

Volumio doesn’t use the upstream Raspbian initramfs, so it isn’t going to be as simple as flashing Volumio to a USB drive and it Just Works™. Since it uses a Readonly squashfs + a overlayfs, things are a bit more… involved when it comes to the intiramfs.
