Hey there. So i got my first rpi 3 and its all set up with volumio 2.0. I was just wondering if it would be possible to install kodi or some other media player on top of volumio. I want to have all my movies and music on my external hard drive and have it connected to my rpi so that i can play either music or movies from the rpi and stream movies to my chromecast or music playing through my dac and headphones. Thanks for any input!
Yes, you can install Kodi on Volumio following this guide:
Sweet thanks, so which section of the guide do i follow for volumio? Im still a noob wigh the terms and not sure what volumio would fall under for the installation.
Volumio is installed on a jessie OS, so you can use the debian installation instructions.
I followed those instructions but came into some errors. Is this on my end not putting the code in right or something else?
It looks like an error in your sources files, can you post the contents of your sources.list?
the command to do so is
It should look something like this (added the line from the tutorial to my fresh install)
volumio@volumio-v978:~$ cat /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://archive.raspbian.org/raspbian jessie main contrib non-free
deb-src http://archive.raspbian.org/raspbian jessie main contrib non-free
deb http://http.debian.net/debian jessie-backports main
thanks a bunch, just realized i put the 3 lines with the # in the source list and it looks like that cleared everything up. It ran the install of kodi and i rebooted. But im lost on how to access kodi from here now.
You just installed kodi… It wont autostart…
No google on having it start on boot
It should work then…
Ieven gotmy setup to usemydac for stereo audio with volumio and use hdmi 5.1 audio to my regular 5.1 movie setup and cec for volumio… Best of both worlds…
If you not using a raspberry, : cecwont work… Justplugin some usb ir remote receiver
